Next is the result from Photomatix using Tone Mapping: First up, here's my "best" attempt with just curve adjustments to the RAW file: Unfortunately, I didn't have a proper sequence of bracketed photos to work with so I made three exposures from the source RAW file (-2, 0, +2). I decided to try it out so the question then becomes which program to use- Photomatix or ?. I've been hesitant about it since I feel that most HDR photos don't appear realistic. Anyways, some folks suggested HDR processing as an alternative. If it says "64 Bit operating system", you're good to go.Įdit: As usual, while I'm composing War & Peace, three others jump in with perfectly good answers. For the benefit of others searching the forum, I thought I'd post this.Ībout a month ago, I posted some photos from a hike up into the snow where I had some real challenges due to a large dynamic range.

Open the control Panel, go to VIEW/Large Icons, and check your system status. If you don't have at least 4GB, preferably 8, it just won't buy you much advantage. Two Caveats: (You remember Caveat - used to have that talk show in the afternoons, now does a lot of PBS stuff.)ġ) A 64-bit version of Windows7 requires a CPU that has a 64-bit mode. It will be faster, at least on the processor-intensive operations, of which there are many millions per second in HDR witchcraft. Thanks for any advice. The 32/64bit question is totally dependent on just one thing - what version of Windows are you running? If you are running a 64bit version of Windows 7, then the 64-bit version of Photomatix (and, for that matter, any other software that gives you the choice) would be best. I have a new computer so there is plenty of space on the Hard Drive and I have moderately fast processor. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know what difference one would have over the other and I want to install the best of the two. When I load the disc it is asking if I want the 32-bit or 64-bit version. I just purchased Photomatix Pro 4 and I want to install it on my PC.
